Surprise, surprise! Another upcoming superhero film gets a new trailer. This time, Thor: Ragnarok is the lucky recipient.
In all seriousness, it has definitely been a great decade for comic book fans. Who would’ve ever thought that we’d be seeing this many heroes getting their own films? Though, it’s unfortunate that standalone entries in each respective series have become few and far between. Now, it’s all about which heroes are going to be in another’s films while villains have taken a backseat .
In the first teaser for Ragnarok, we see Thor (Chris Hemsworth), looking oddly similar to Kratos from the God of War video game series, as he’s forced into a gladiator battle with the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Thor is also tasked with defeating Hela (Cate Blanchett) and the impending Ragnarok to save the realm of Asgard.
It looks as if Marvel is trying to lighten up the Thor franchise a little bit by adding in some Guardians of the Galaxy flair. The visuals, as well as the use of Led Zeppelin’s The Immigrant Song, bring an element of fun to the character. Thor hasn’t always had the most entertaining films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston as Loki have been solid characters. Either way, Ragnarok looks like another film in which the world is ending. This has sadly become a common characteristic for this generation of superhero films.
Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on November 3rd. Check out the teaser and comment below.
