The first teaser trailer for The Woods makes some pretty big promises.
At the moment, not much is known about Adam Wingard’s new film, The Woods, but the teaser trailer certainly heaps plenty of praise on itself. Quotes such as “A new beginning for horror films” and “… a truly terrifying cinematic experience” flash across the screen as the camera flies over a forest.
From there, we’re given a brief glimpse into the film’s plot as a group of people are camping out in the woods before they’re apparently attacked by someone or something. The first thing that most people will think of when watching the trailer is The Blair Witch Project. Specifically, when the shots change to a “found footage” style, the trailer takes a severe Blair Witch turn.
In all honesty, there really isn’t a whole lot to say about this film yet. Not much is known about it other than the positive quotes at the beginning of the trailer. Horror tends to be a genre that always pumps out good trailers that result in a disappointing final product. If The Woods is as good as some of these quotes let on, then maybe we will finally get another horror classic for the modern age. Though, the most likely scenario is that the intriguing teaser trailer will only lead to disappoint once the final film is released in September.
