It has been far too long since we’ve been able to talk about one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. As many of you may know, we love Michael Fassbender here. We talk about him at any chance we get but his name hasn’t been mentioned in a while. Sure, he was in Alien: Covenant but that film was iffy at best. However, his new thriller, entitled The Snowman, is on the way and it looks pretty great.
Based on a novel of the same name, The Snowman sees Fassbender as lead detective, Harry Hole, who’s investigating the case of a missing woman on the first snowfall of the year. Bearing similarities to previous cold cases (no pun intended), Harry feels that the Snowman Killer has returned. He teams up with a female recruit (Rebecca Ferguson) to find the killer before the next snowfall can claim another victim.
The film is directed by Tomas Alfredson who’s most known for the Swedish vampire film, Let the Right One In, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. His new film has a similar feel to Let the Right One In with the snowy terrain, dark tone, and eerie plot. Alfredson’s work has been met with quite a bit of praise and this film looks as if it will impress as well. With a cast that includes Charlotte Gainsbourg, J.K. Simmons, Toby Jones, and Chloë Sevigny, in addition to Fassbender and Ferguson, there’s definitely a good chance for it to be a sleeper hit this year.
The Snowman is set for release on October 20th. Check out the trailer and comment below.
