The feature film adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ novel gets a revealing first trailer.
Today, we all got our first look at the mystery/thriller film from Tate Taylor, The Girl on the Train. The film stars Emily Blunt as a woman who witnesses a shocking event from the window of the train she is riding. Coincidentally (or maybe not), the event involves the nanny who is employed by her ex-husband.
Immediately, this trailer will remind viewers of David Fincher’s Gone Girl from 2014. Both appear to have similar scenarios in regards to their respective plots. There is a sense of conspiracy and simply more than meets the eye at first glance.
What’s interesting about this “teaser” trailer is that it is almost two and a half minutes long. Plus, it feels like it reveals almost too much about the plot of the film. The point of a teaser is to actually tease the audience. It isn’t to give them too many details and potentially spoil some of the twists and turns of the story. Unless you’ve read Paula Hawkins novel, this is all speculation, of course. Regardless, the trailer is very intriguing and this could be a film to watch as it releases close to awards season on October 7th. Check out the trailer and leave your comments below.
