A couple of months ago, the first trailer for the sci-fi thriller, The Circle, was released. Now, a second trailer has come out giving a little more insight as to the plot of the film.
Adapted from a 2013 novel by David Eggers, the film follows Mae (Emma Watson) as she rises through the ranks of a large tech company understandably named the Circle. Tom Hanks plays Eamon Bailey, the figurehead of the company, who focuses mainly on knowledge and surveillance of everyone. Mae’s life is intruded upon as details about her and her family are monitored by the Circle. Also starring in the film are John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Bill Paxton, and Patton Oswalt.
The film is definitely being released at a time when suspicions of companies and government having too much information on people is at an all time high. With the ever-changing landscape of technology has come questions about how much information our devices actually contain that we don’t know about. Simply put, The Circle will certainly be a relevant film for this day and age.
