There’s just something about a quirky, dark comedy that warms the heart. Whether it’s something like Death to Smoochy, The Nice Guys, or seemingly any film by the Coen brothers, there’s simply too much fun to be had from serious events. That’s why anticipation soars for George Clooney’s new film in the first Suburbicon trailer.
Starring Matt Damon, Oscar Isaac, and Julianne Moore, Suburbicon is centered around a home invasion and its impact on a quiet suburban town. Damon’s character exacts his revenge on the criminals responsible for murdering his wife. He’s left with only his young son, Nicky (Noah Jupe), and his sister (Moore) who comes to help raise Nicky.
The screenplay was written back in 1986 by Joel and Ethan Coen *surpise, surprise* after the release of their film Blood Simple. Originally, Clooney was set to direct and star in the film but Matt Damon took over as the film’s lead. Either way, Damon looks to be an excellent choice for the role. From the very start of the trailer, the subject matter, the comedy, and even the look of the film screams Coen brother involvement. Clooney has proven himself to be a capable director in the past and Suburbicon has quickly ascended into one of our most anticipated films of 2017.
The film is set for release on October 27th. Check out the first Suburbicon trailer and comment below.
