This is becoming quite the theme in these early days of March. Another May film release has gotten a new trailer. This time, we get a deeper look at Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Back in October, the first teaser for the film dropped. From that, we already know that the sinister Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) is the most recent undead being to be on the search for Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). In this brand new trailer, we finally find out why. Apparently, Salazar hunted pirates and a young Sparrow was the particular pirate to cause his demise. It will also be interesting to see how they insert the Trident of Poseidon and the return of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) into the story.
Something that sticks out in this trailer that isn’t a character, joke, or special effect, are the words. The trailer claims that “the final adventure begins.” It’s fair to wonder how this is meant to be interpreted. Obviously, the Pirates of the Caribbean series is a proven moneymaker for Disney. Otherwise, they wouldn’t release these new films since the original trilogy. While this could certainly be the final film in the franchise, it also wouldn’t be surprising if this was just the first part of a multiple film finale similar to how Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End fit together.
Either way, we don’t have much longer to wait. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set for release on May 26th. Check out the trailer and comment below.
