Nope, Wonder Woman wasn’t the only upcoming DC Extended Universe film to get a trailer at Comic-Con today. We got our first look at Justice League as well!
There’s one thing that can be said about the Justice League trailer: it is excellent. It has everything. We get to see Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) as he attempts to assemble the group. He calls out Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and has an amusing and lighthearted meeting with Barry Allen AKA The Flash (Ezra Miller) before the costumed heroes are finally shown together. Speaking of Ezra Miller, he steals the show in the trailer.
Gone is the grim tone of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. With a film that features so many classic superheroes, it’s a very smart move to lighten the mood and just have fun with it. Obviously, Batman v Superman didn’t pan out as expected and the filmmakers needed to call an audible for the DCEU.
With Suicide Squad being promoted like crazy, it’s not hard to understand why Warner Bros. and DC would do the same with Justice League. Even the usage of the song, “Icky Thump,” by The White Stripes feels reminiscent to Suicide Squad’s recent usage of popular music in its trailers. If the latter film pans out, it could mark a quick, much needed turnaround for the DCEU. If nothing else, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Justice League appear to be on the correct path at the moment.
Justice League opens in theaters on November 17th, 2017. Check out the trailer and comment below.
