It has been a little while since there’s been a new trailer here on Cinema Smack. With Oscar season in full effect, there haven’t been many noteworthy trailers popping up. With the sad cinematic month of January nearly out of the way, it’s time to start looking forward and, of course, that means that there’s a new Marvel movie to talk about. While Black Panther is set for release in February and Avengers: Infinity War in May, we’ve now gotten the first teaser for July’s Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Originally rumored to be part of The Avengers, it wasn’t to be for the minuscule superhero. Marvel was already taking enough of a gamble with some relatively unknown heroes to the general public to include the likes of Ant-Man. Obviously, after the Marvel Cinematic Universe proved to be a massive hit, the company started to crank out films for every hero they could and, thus, Ant-Man was released in 2015.
Now, three years later, Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for release. It picks up after the events of Captain America: Civil War where Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) was arrested for his involvement in the big superhero battle at the airport. Following his release, he reunites with Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) to team up with Hope van Dyne AKA the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) to uncover secrets from their past. As expected, this first teaser brings back a lot of the goofy situational humor from the first film. Though, it remains to be seen if the story will be smaller in scope like its predecessor or if it will go full Marvel and have the duo saving the world. Preferably, it will be the former.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for release on July 6th. Check out the teaser and comment below.
