All of a sudden, this feels like déjà vu. We already talked about a new superhero film on the way from 20th Century Fox but we’re not done yet. The first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming solo adventure, Black Panther, dropped earlier today as well.
Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the character as Chadwick Boseman’s performance of Black Panther was one of the best things about last year’s Captain America: Civil War. It also looks like director Ryan Coogler felt the same way. This trailer is packed full of action scenes with many of them taking place in traffic. It’s obviously reminiscent of the character’s introduction in Civil War.
Along with the action, we get introduced to many of the characters. While the first teaser in June focused mostly on Boseman’s T’Challa/Black Panther, this new trailer gives us some extended looks at the other big names that make up the supporting cast. Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o and Forest Whitaker all get some screen time. Of course, the film’s main villain, Erik Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan, also gets some moments to shine. Although this trailer didn’t go into the plot, the film looks as if it will be visually stunning nonetheless.
Black Panther opens in theaters on February 16th, 2018. Check out the trailer and comment below.
