By now, we all know of the partnership of Marvel and Netflix to bring lesser known superheroes to life on the small screen. The official trailer for Iron Fist, the final member being introduced for The Defenders, has been released.
We’ve discussed Marvel’s recent dominance in visual media ad nauseam on this site. Iron Fist looks as if it will continue the trend. After being presumed dead, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) returns to New York City to reclaim his family’s company. As you can imagine, he’s met with backlash and uses his advanced kung fu abilities and the mystical force of the Iron Fist to fight crime.
Netflix’s television adaptations of these superheroes have been quite interesting as they stray from the apocalyptic approach of Marvel’s films. Most of the enemies are common street criminals and crime bosses as opposed to beings from other planets and dimensions. Iron Fist seems like it’s going to keep the same approach as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage in that respect. These Netflix shows feature a different kind of superhero and are all the more refreshing for it.
Joining Finn Jones in the cast are Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson who returns as Claire Temple from the other three shows. As previously mentioned, Iron Fist is the final stop before Netflix teams up their four heroes in The Defenders this coming fall.
Iron Fist premieres on March 17th. Check out the official trailer and comment below.
